PAMIRA® (PAckMIttel Rücknahme Agrar) is Germany’s nationwide take-back system for plant protection product and liquid fertiliser packaging, operated by RIGK GmbH. Building on the success of previous years, the special campaign for returning pheromone dispensers once again delivered impressive results in 2025, with collection volumes reaching new heights.
Thanks to the commitment of numerous winegrowers, the 2025 campaign saw more than 51 tonnes of used pheromone dispensers returned at 20 designated collection events. The collected materials were subsequently sent for controlled, environmentally sound recovery, contributing to resource efficiency through thermal energy utilisation.
By returning the dispensers via PAMIRA®, winegrowers play an active role in environmental stewardship and sustainable vineyard management. Feedback from winegrowers and collection site staff was consistently positive, with both the availability and organisation of the service being praised.
Pheromone dispensers are a vital tool in environmentally friendly pest control. They are used in vineyards to disrupt the mating cycle of the grapevine moth – a major pest – by releasing attractants that confuse the male insects. This method replaces chemical insecticides and supports integrated pest management.
At the end of the season, used dispensers must be removed from the vineyards. As part of the PAMIRA® initiative, winegrowers detach the dispensers in spring after pruning and return them at dedicated collection points established specifically for this purpose. The service is offered free of charge to growers and ensures that these materials are handled responsibly.
PAMIRA® is a registered trademark of the German Agricultural Industry Association (Industrieverband Agrar e.V., IVA). RIGK is responsible for organising the collection campaigns and ensuring proper recycling of the returned packaging.
